Red Rock Canyon, Topanga 2003

I had driven down to Santa Monica to spend Halloween with Ryan and wound up staying for the entire weekend. On Sunday after his friend left and after a little football, we went out to get some fresh air and went hiking through Red Rock Canyon off of Topanga Canyon Road. This was a state park in Malibu and was one of my first times hiking in this area. I didn't realize there were so many little parks tucked away in Malibu, and some of them are definitely spots one should visit.

The Photographs

These pictures were taken with my Minolta system. I used Ilford FP4 Plus film, the first time I've used it. I think I like it better then Tri X, but not as much as Plus X. Lenses with me were sparse due to a hangover, a lack of energy, and lack of a belt: 58/1.2, 35 Shift, and 21/2.8. I wound up experimenting with the VFC features on the Shift lens a lot as well as seeing how various filters would affect B&W (e.g. yellow filters with the sky).
