Purisma Creek Redwoods Open Space Preserve

December 2005

One fine weekend I drove on up to the penninsula to visit some good friends of mine and their adorable daughter. Along with sharing in some delicious port, I had the good fortune to spend a couple of hours hiking out along the redwoods of the penninsula. These redwoods are really magnificient. After being stuck in traffic on the 101, it's really phenomenal to think that just a few highways over are such lush tracts of open space, a small window into what the entire area must have looked like 100 years ago. I've spent some quality time with these trees, and even young ones never cease to amaze.

The Photographs

These photographs were taken with my Minolta system and the SRT101 body on a roll of Velvia 50. I had forgotten how dark the redwood forests really get and the film was a bit slow, but still kinda workable. Click "Next" in the upper right to begin.
