Newberry Volcanic National Monument
After spending the night in the North Cascades, we headed back South on our way towards Oregon. After a beautiful drive through Oregon around the Three Sisters area, we spent the night in the Newberry Volcanic National Monument in some balmy 20 some odd degree weather. This park situated in central Oregon was an unexpected stop that turned out to be quite interesting. While not volcanically active any longer, the monument is home to several interesting volcanic features and also forms a caldera with several lakes surrounded by mountains.
