Ortega Trail, Los Padres NF

July 2005

In between various weekends of traveling during my busy summer, I took some time off over July 4th. With a camping trip having been nixed due to recovering from jet lag, I finally got out hiking in the Los Padres. The Adventure Pass now history, I went to a fee-free area to go hiking on the Ortega trail. This trail took me up to the gorgeous mountains off of the 33 north of Ojai. I had driven through them many times before and never realized there were a couple of trails that wound up into them. I got some gorgeous views of the valley. Unfortunately some folks took shotguns to the signs (and an iMac) so it's a bit more nondescript of a trailhead now. At the top there is a campground and someday I may need to return there.

The Photographs

These photographs were taken with my Minolta system on a roll of Kodachrome PKL 200 and a roll of Kodachrome PKR 64. I used this particular excursion to try and get some learning experience with my ND filters. Click Next in the upper right to begin.
