Lassen National Park

July 2004

Recently I've been reading quite a bit of John Muir's writings and have been itching to get back to the Sierras. I was in San Francisco the week before for WWDC and figured I'd be able to go up to Lassen being so close already. Ryan hopped on a plane up from LA and we drove on over. We managed to get to the top of Lassen Peak, though I was definitely huffing and puffing near the end. After that we went out for a brief backpacking run, staying out in the woods for two nights while a full moon gave the snow on the peaks an eerie glow. We hiked along a number of the lakes in the shadows of the mountains before heading on back to Southern Cali.
